Moreover, our egg donation agency offers the highest degree of professionalism in the industry. Our staff is very informed, responsive and focused on making this a stress-free and successful experience. Q. ONCE I HAVE SELECTED AN EGG DONOR, HOW LONG UNTIL THE RETRIEVAL PROCEDURE IS SCHEDULED?
A. Once you select an egg donor, the process takes between two to three months. The timeline depends, to some extent, on the donor's cycle and schedule. Premium Egg Donation, Inc. will do everything we can do on our end to expedite the process and schedule a timely egg retrieval procedure.
Q. WHAT IS THE LEGAL ARRANGEMENT WITH MY EGG DONOR?
A. Premium Egg Donation, Inc. will provide you with a contract prepared by our staff attorney who specializes in third party reproductive law. We will refer your egg donor to another lawyer who will review the agreement with her. This contract protects both you and your donor's best interests and is a critical component in the egg donation process. Attorney's fees are billed separately from the egg donation agency fee and paid directly to your attorney.
Q. DOES PREMIUM EGG DONATION, INC. WORK WITH SINGLE PARENTS OR GAY COUPLES?
A. Absolutely! PEDI's founder, Jessica Rutzick, is a single mother by choice and started her family with the help of an egg donor. We believe that the right to have children should be available to anyone, regardless of age, sex, ethnicity, marital status, nationality or sexual orientation.
Q. AS AN EGG DONATION RECIPIENT, WILL MY PERSONAL INFORMATION REMAIN CONFIDENTIAL?
A. Yes. Confidentiality is of great concern to our donors and recipients alike. PEDI will not reveal any of your personal information to the Egg donor. Privacy is one of our priorities.
FAQs For Donors
Q. WILL EGG DONATION AFFECT MY FERTILITY?
A. No! The egg retrieval process will not compromise the possibility of a future pregnancy. You will be working with doctors specializing in fertility and endocrinology who will ensure your health and safety.
Q. WHAT DOES THE EGG DONATION PROCESS ENTAIL?
A. Once you have been screened and selected for our donor database, your profile will be viewed by intended parents on the PEDI secure website. If an intended parent selects you, you will go to a medical evaluation in which a physician and a psychologist determine your overall health and suitability for the donation procedure. The physician will prescribe hormone medication for approximately three weeks which you will take under the doctor's care. You will then be scheduled for an out-patient procedure in which the eggs will be retrieved from your ovaries. The procedure is done in a doctor's office using a light sedative. Most egg donors are able to return to school or work the following day.
Q. IS THE EGG RETRIEVAL PROCEDURE PAINFUL?
A. The egg retrieval procedure is done with a light sedative, so you will not feel any discomfort during the retrieval process. Afterwards, you may feel slightly groggy from the sedative. You may also feel some minor cramping, similar to menstrual cramps, but this usually goes away within a few hours.
Q. HOW MUCH WILL I BE COMPENSATED FOR MY TIME AND EGG DONATION?
A. P.E.D.I. recognizes that donating eggs is exceptionally time consuming and may take you away from your regular work or school for a short period of time. Additionally, the donation process requires sexual abstinence for several weeks. Our donors set their own fee for their time and commitment to following through with the procedure. Egg Donation fees range for PEDI donors from $10,000.00 to $13,000.00, depending upon the number of times you have already donated. (Each additional egg donation cycle commands a larger fee). The American Society of Reproductive Medicine recommends donating up to six cycles. Some egg donors are willing and interested in donating more than six times.
Q. WILL I HAVE ANY OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES FOR DONATING MY EGGS?
A. No! The recipient pays for all of your expenses, including travel expenses and attorneys fees. The income you have from donating eggs is, however, taxable.
Q. WHAT IF THERE ARE MEDICAL COMPLICATIONS RESULTING FROM MY EGG DONATION?
A. First of all, complications resulting from an egg donation are very rare. Nevertheless, your recipient will provide medical insurance specifically to cover any unanticipated medical expenses resulting from your donation. Additionally, the recipient will pay for any costs that are not covered by the insurance but that are a direct result of the egg retrieval procedure. You should receive all the medical care necessary to treat any complication at no expense to you.
Q. MAY I REMAIN ANONYMOUS WITH MY EGG DONATION?
A. Absolutely! It is entirely your choice to remain completely anonymous, to make yourself available to meet the intended parents, or to be available to meet any children that may be born as a result of your donation at the appropriate time. Your privacy is a critical component to this process. You will not know your recipients' name(s) and the recipient will not know any of your personal identifying information. Our egg donor's profiles are password protected on a secured web site and only registered recipients may access and view your donor profile.
